Le pitch

Quand les femmes s'endorment, elles ne se réveillent plus. Elles sont dans un état de sommeil profond, dans un cocon, et mieux vaut ne pas les réveiller. Le phénomène, baptisé Aurora, est mondial, et irrémédiable. A Dooling, petite ville des États-Unis, une prison pour femmes doit accueillir une nouvelle pensionnaire, qui se fait appeler Evie Black. La seule au monde qui s'endort sans cocon, et se réveille...

Avis perso

Sleeping Beauties fait partie des romans qui donnent à réfléchir, je pense que c'est une de ses ambitions, et il y parvient d'une façon inattendue, parce que ce n'est pas forcément ce que l'on attend d'une fiction.

De fait, je classe cette œuvre comme incontournable. Éprouvant à lire, comme Dôme le fut pour moi, mais Dôme est un récit en deux volumes, plus long et plus tendu que Sleeping Beauties . Ma difficulté, c'est le stress soumis aux protagonistes, contraints souvent à faire des choix sous une énorme pression. Parfois, ça retarde ma lecture, parce que je n'ai pas envie de la reprendre, parce que par anticipation je crains de lire ce qui va se passer. Mais j'aime ça parce que je pense que c'est voulu par l'écrivain, dont je me sens le jouet, et c'est une qualité que j'apprécie dans ses récits, dont on veut toujours poursuivre la lecture.

Sleeping Beauties est toutefois un roman assez particulier, parce qu'il est partisan, et ça doit surement faire des remous chez les conservateurs, présentant l'homme comme le seul responsable des maux humanitaires. Mais pour moi, le roman n'est pas que féministe, il est humaniste, car la question existentielle posée concerne les deux sexes : l'un peut-il se passer de l'autre ?

On est nombreux à pouvoir se reconnaître dans le récit, homme ou femme ; et hommes et femmes qui liront Sleeping Beauties s'interrogeront, réfléchiront, peut-être ; je l'espère, car c'est un peu plus qu'une fiction, et ce serait réducteur, pour l’œuvre de King père et fils, de ne pas le faire. Excellent divertissement par ailleurs, avec tous les ingrédients qu'il faut pour faire monter la pression ; mais c'est aussi, sans donner la leçon, une réflexion humaniste sur les relations homme / femme.

Œuvre littéraire de Terry Pratchett

En repensant aux jeux vidéos sur PC, désopilants, Discworld, 1995, et Discworld 2, 1996^[1], de type point-and-click, issus de ces œuvres, et dont j'ai parfois la nostalgie et conserve un très bon souvenir, j'ai eu envie, il y a longtemps, de les lire. Je viens de commencer et je ne suis pas déçu, je n'en suis pour l'heure qu'au second tome, le huitième sortilège, mais c'est à la hauteur de ce que j'en attendais.

Un morceau choisi qui me fait mourir de rire :

La forêt de Skund était véritablement enchantée, ce qui n’avait rien d’inhabituel sur le Disque, et la seule de tout l’univers qu’on appelait – dans l’idiome local : « Ton-Doigt, Crétin », traduction littérale du mot « Skund ».
La raison en est d’une navrante banalité. Lorsque les premiers explorateurs des pays chauds riverains de la mer Circulaire s’aventurèrent dans le froid de l’arrière-pays pour compléter les espaces blancs de leurs cartes, ils sautaient sur le premier indigène venu, désignaient au loin un point de repère, demandaient ce que c’était d’une voix forte et claire et notaient ce que leur répondait l’homme stupéfait. Ainsi restèrent immortalisés dans des générations d’atlas des bizarreries géographiques telles que « Rien-qu’une-Montagne », « Je-Sais-Pas », « Quoi ? » et bien entendu « Ton-Doigt, Crétin ».

Cette œuvre comportant au minimum 35 tomes, plus d'autres opus, je mettrai à jour ce billet au fur et à mesure de mes avancées et envies de les partager.

Le pitch

Sous le parapluie bleu de Debbie. C'est sur un site internet de messagerie privée que le tueur à la Mercedes provoque l'Officier retraité Bill Hodges, s'enorgueillant de son crime, avoir foncé sur une foule venue camper la veille d'une foire à l'emploi, faisant huit morts et plusieurs blessés, dont une jeune mère et son bébé. Retraité mais pas hors service, l'ancien policier est piqué, d'autant qu'il se sent responsable de ne pas avoir alpagué ce monstre avant sa retraite. Il accepte de prendre des risques pour le mettre, lui aussi, hors service.

Une belle découverte musicale, que je dois à mon beauf ! J'adore les contrastes, les alternances entre des sons très lourds, des rythmes très rapides et nerveux, des passages mélodieux et des envolées vocales que Freddie Mercury ne renierait surement pas, plus un style expérimental d'une signature unique. Des influences familières que j'affectionne, Pink Floyd, Queen, Metallica, Linkin Park... Un mélange explosif et une des plus belles claques musicales, et pour les amateurs du genre qui ne connaissaient pas encore, comme moi, c'est à écouter absolument !

Ce film est la première adaptation de l'excellente nouvelle de Stephen King Les enfants du maïs, parue dans le recueil Danse macabre en 1978. Dans la nouvelle, les deux adultes n'étaient pas un couple amoureux, mais au contraire un couple qui se déchirait, ce qui rendait le récit plus dramatique dans les épreuves qu'ils affrontent. A noter la présence de Linda Hamilton, l'héroïne de Terminator, sorti la même année

Entendu ce jour au micro de Christophe Hondelatte sur Europe 1 :

Jean-Luc Mélenchon a publié sur son blog une charge très violente contre les médias

Non monsieur Faites-entrer-l'accusé, si Mélenchon s'en prends aux médias, ce n'est pas une charge, c'est en réponse au déchainement médiatique d'une très grande violence à l'encontre de la France insoumise qui dure depuis plusieurs mois, mais je suppose que vous ne l'avez pas lu, et quand bien même, vous êtes du coté des médias, donc de parti pris puisque vous vous sentez personnellement visé. Il s'en prend, avec la force et la véhémence des coups bas qu'il subit, mais bien plus intelligemment, n'étant ni journaliste ni chroniqueur mais intellectuel, au système (médiatique) dominant actuel qui est au service des dominants (politiques) du moment. Il l'exprime sur son blog personnel car c'est le seul espace où il peut le faire aussi librement, sans interruption de parole, sans traquenard et sans censure, comme aucun média ne lui permettra de le faire.

Contrairement à ce que veut faire croire cette campagne médiatique de dénigrement, Jean-Luc Mélenchon n'est pas un dictateur, vouloir redonner de la légitimité à son peuple n'a rien de dictatorial, encore moins vouloir lui redonner des moyens de vivre décemment, et la France insoumise n'est pas un danger pour la démocratie ; le Front national en est un, puisque ne pas voter Macron au second tour des présidentielles a été qualifié par certains de faute grave et de faute morale impardonnable. Pourtant on leur a servi sur un plateau l'accès au second tour, et eux n'ont pas eu ce traitement médiatique réservé à la FI. Peut-être par poltronnerie, de crainte de représailles dans le cas où le FN aurait réellement accédé au pouvoir ? Que dire de ces experts proches du PS qui regrettent que l'on donne la parole à la France insoumise plutôt qu'au Front national ? Qu'est donc devenu le PS pour tomber aussi bas ? Je donne raison à Jean-Luc Mélenchon de vouloir remplacer ce parti moribond qui a vécu.

L'une des valeurs de la République n'est-elle pas l'égalité pour tous ? Alors pourquoi tant de différences de traitement dans les médias ? Il n'y a aucune menace pour la démocratie dans le programme l'avenir en commun de la FI, les médias le sauraient s'ils l'avaient lu, si ce mouvement représente un danger, c'est pour les privilèges de ceux qui prennent aux pauvres pour donner aux riches (je pense toujours à la citation de Don Salluste dans la Folie des Grandeurs, Ô combien de circonstance), de ces esclavagistes libéraux qui s'enrichissent impunément sur le dos des autres, en exigeant toujours plus de sacrifices au peuple français. Évidemment, tous ces médias que l'on désigne "médiacrates", voire "merdiacrates" pour les plus orduriers, qui servent et soutiennent ce pouvoir politique se sentent eux aussi menacés, d'où cet appui soutenu à tous ceux qui pointent du doigt le mouvement insoumis. Mais quand on tombe dans l'insulte et l'injure, on n'est plus dans la critique, surtout lorsqu'on ne se donne même pas la peine de se documenter avant de parler. Assez des provocations, des agressions et violences verbales. La France insoumise est une force politique légitime, qui n'a pas réuni sept millions d'abrutis, il est temps de l'admettre et l'accepter, et l'intégrer.

Peggy, très populaire en 1960, se retrouve reine de la soirée avec pour partenaire son mari, Charlie, le rocker. Mais ce tandem si brillant jadis est sur le point de se séparer. Revoyant son mari dans sa prime jeunesse, Peggy, encore amoureuse, s'évanouit. Elle s'enfonce dans le rêve et revit ces fameuses années 1960...

Avis

Une comédie romantique teintée de fantastique qui nous replonge dans l'Amérique insouciante des années 60, un peu comme [American Graffiti de Georges Lucas, mais façon love story sans violence. L'insouciance est rafraichissante et j'aime beaucoup le rétro.

Une réalisation irréprochable, un suspens et une intrigue très réussie, la meilleure surprise cinéma de l'année, à voir absolument !

"Duma Key"

Roman de Stephen King, publié en 2008.

Le pitch

Edgar Freemantle, la cinquantaine, marié et deux filles, a brillamment réussi en créant son entreprise de travaux publics. Sa vie bascule un jour lors d'une inspection sur un chantier, lorsque son véhicule au volant duquel il se trouve est écrasé par une grue mobile. L'accident lui coûte un bras, de graves lésions corporelles et des dommages au cerveau qui lui provoquent des amnésies partielles et des troubles du langage. Il lui coutera aussi son mariage, ses accès de colère décidant sa femme à demander le divorce. Alors que rien ne peut sembler aller plus mal, un ami psychologue lui fait la suggestion d'un traitement géographique, en changeant de lieu et d’environnement. C'est ainsi qu'Edgar va prendre une location pour un an sur Duma Key, une petite île de Floride. Ce nouvel environnement paradisiaque va lui permettre de se reconstruire, physiquement et mentalement, et lui donner le gout du dessin et de la peinture. Mais il va s'apercevoir que ses inspirations artistiques lui semblent être l'influence d'une forme de force mystérieuse, et que sa venue sur l'île n'est peut-être pas le seul fait du hasard...

Avis

Je m'efforce de faire toujours un pitch attractif, sans trop dévoiler le récit ; celui-ci est long et il se passe beaucoup de choses, il est passionnant, captivant, et très évasionnel. J'aime beaucoup imaginer les lieux d'après les descriptions, et cette façon de faire d'un endroit une entité comme un personnage. On n'envie pas le personnage principal d'Edgar pour les souffrances qu'il endure, mais on envie un peu la possibilité qu'il a de s'offrir ainsi une nouvelle vie. Stephen King ne laisse jamais de côté la psychologie de ses personnages et les relations entre eux, et elles ont aussi une part importante dans ce récit fantastique.
C'est ma seconde lecture de ce roman, et c'est très rare que je lise deux fois un livre, tant mon rythme de lecture est lent, et qu'il y en a tant d'autres à lire. C'est en fait la lecture de Joyland qui m'a évoqué le souvenir de ce roman que j'adore, que j'avais lu il y a deux ans, et qui m'a donné envie de m'y replonger. Quand vous l'entreprenez, c'est le genre de récit qui vous donne ce genre de hâte, tout lâcher et y retourner !

Portraits (de filles :-P)

On a le choix de jouer un garçon ou une fille (le frère ou la sœur), ce qui devrait offrir une certaine rejouabilité pour un jeu qui semble (j'y joue pour la première fois) proposer déjà une durée de jeu conséquente. J'ai une préférence pour les rôles féminins, surtout dans un jeu qui se joue à la troisième personne^[1], c'est plus sympa à l’œil

Celle-ci est une PNJ^[2], mais fait partie de l'équipe et, j'avais envie de coller aussi sa photo...
